Areopagitica

We're an instrumental trio of friends dedicated to expanding musical frontiers and defying conventional genre boundaries.  We take our name from a pamphlet published in 1644 by John Milton which decried the enactment of new censorship laws by Parliament. 

It is our belief that if the human spirit is to flourish, it must remain unfettered and free to roam beyond the borders that are constantly being drawn around it - and this is the philosophy we bring to our music.

By embracing complex rhythms, a strong sense of melody, and a highly collaborative writing process, we feel we've found a unique sound that is innovative and imaginative without becoming so avant garde that we alienate more traditional listeners. Our music encompasses elements of post-rock, progressive rock, indie rock, psychedelic rock, good ol' regular rock, jam band and classical, all synthesized into a distinctive sound that we think you'll enjoy. We are in the Boulder/Denver area, and have been playing gigs since February of 2009.

We're relatively new on the scene and looking to play a variety of gigs, but we'd prefer to steer clear of the standard "bar band" scene.  Also, we play LOUD...so we need a venue and an audience that can handle that. We're open to any opportunities, and we have recordings of previous shows available for demo purposes.
